Sometimes I Dress Myself

The inspiration for today’s outfit came from my own brain. Shocking! The name of the blog is Copycat Fashionista for a reason–I seldom come up with outfits that are creative and nice on my own. I suppose that today’s look was probably subliminally influenced by something I’ve seen before, but it wasn’t deliberate, therefore I am taking all the credit. Nevertheless, after throwing this one together I thought it would be good to find a similar look elsewhere to see if it needed a completer piece to really tie everything together. After a brief search, I found one outfit that looked similar, but it didn’t really add much to what I had already assembled so I decided to stick with my instincts.

Here’s what I dreamed up:

Ciao for now.

Do My Red Eyes Match My Blue Shirt?

Someone forgot to let my son know that our holidays are over and that he can’t stay up all night to watch Cars, the movie. Well, that’s not entirely true–I told him, but like Adam from Mythbusters, he rejected my reality and substituted his own. In other words, my husband and I were up until midnight trying to console an overtired two-year old who didn’t want to stay in bed.

So today’s post is proudly brought to you by…COFFEE!

Despite being overtired (or maybe BECAUSE we were overtired), my husband and I decided to bike to work today, which meant today’s outfit was blindly assembled by throwing pieces I thought might work together into a bag (this is why my pants are a little wrinkled). Nonetheless, I’m relatively satisfied with how things turned out.

Here’s today’s look:

Here’s how the look breaks down:

-Shirt: Blue tank with sheer black back from Smart Set (for work, I wear it with a camisole underneath). I’m not sure what it cost, as it was a hand-me-down gift from one of my cousins, whom I visited recently. Growing up as the youngest girl in my family, I used to love sifting through huge bags of my cousins’ old clothes, and now that we’re older–with jobs and better style–it’s even more fun to help them clean out their closets.

-Camisole: Black camisole by Kirkland. $10 from Costco.

-Pants: White linen pants. About $20 from Costco.

-Belt: Brown woven leather belt with silver studs, silver buckle, and some floral-type etching in the leather. About $20.

-Shoes: Brown leather pointy-toed Mary Janes by ECCO. About $70.

-Purse: Brown leather bag by Calvin Klein. $100 from Winners.

-Necklace: Multi-strand silver chain necklace. Under $10 from Ardene.

-Bracelets: The thick cuff was around $25 from Laura’s Fashions in Canora, SK. The smaller bangles are an assortment of silver bracelets I’ve collected over the years. They probably cost around $20 altogether.

Thanks for stopping by. My coffee run-eth empty, so I’m off to refuel.

Ciao for now.
